- Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Winnie Dias is a multidisciplinary artist who began her training at CEFAR and Compasso Academia de Dança. In 2008, after winning the International Dance Festival in Brasília, she received a scholarship to study at the Akademie des Tanzes Mannheim in Germany, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Dance.
Winnie has danced with renowned companies including The Hamburg Ballet, Staatsballett Karlsruhe, Ballet du Rhin in France, and the Bundesjugendballett (German National Youth Ballet). Her international career has taken her to major stages across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with performances in cities such as London, Lisbon, Tokyo, Moscow, Vienna, Shanghai, Chicago, Madrid, and Copenhagen.
Since August 2017, she has worked as a freelance dancer, choreographer, and rehearsal director, collaborating with institutions such as English National Ballet, Opernhaus Zürich and The Royal Ballet.
Her recent work includes collaborations with Andrew McNicol (McNicol Ballet Collective, London), Arte das Musas, Felipe Faria, Sete Lágrimas, Philharmonie Luxembourg, and Benjamin Prins. She has performed in major productions such as Romeo and Juliet by Johan Kobborg (Arena di Verona), The Little Red and the Wolf by Ross Freddie Ray (Zaryadye Hall, Moscow), and No Time Like the Present by Katya Bourvis.
She also participated in a creative residency at Orsolina28, contributing to La Strada by Natalia Horecna, produced by the Alina Cojocaru Foundation and received twice the “Dis-Tanzen” artistic grant for her work and movement research, funded by the German Culture Ministry via the Dachverband Tanz.
In addition, Winnie is assistant to Joseph Toonga on his creations for Classical companies. Her independent projects span theatre and film, with choreographic work presented at venues such as the Royal Opera House, Berliner Philharmonie, and Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
Beyond dance, she is also a videomaker, editor, and certified 200-hour yoga teacher -
